Oncology Rapid Care

Timely Care for Your Symptoms, Without an ER Visit

The Oncology Rapid Care (ORC) unit at Mount Sinai’s Braman Comprehensive Cancer Center on Miami Beach provides timely, specialized care for cancer patients experiencing treatment-related symptoms. ORC’s goal is to help manage the patient’s symptoms, provide early intervention, and reduce unnecessary visits to the Emergency Department.

If you’re experiencing side effects or new symptoms, our dedicated ORC team is here to evaluate and treat you quickly in a supportive, cancer-focused setting.

Symptoms That May Be Treated in Oncology Rapid Care Include:

  • Fever
  • Pain
  • Bleeding
  • Cough or shortness of breath
  • Fatigue
  • Urinary problems
  • Skin issues or rashes
  • Dizziness
  • Dehydration
  • Diarrhea, nausea, or abdominal pain
  • Swelling of the legs

How Oncology Rapid Care Works:

  • Step 1: Call the ORC hotline at 305.535.3375 if you are experiencing symptoms that may require urgent attention.
  • Step 2: A health care specialist will assess your symptoms to determine if they meet the criteria for ORC treatment.
  • Step 3: Based on your needs, you may receive guidance over the phone or be scheduled for an in-person visit with a supervising physician.

If care through the Oncology Rapid Care program is not appropriate, other options will be discussed, including evaluation by the appropriate care team or department.

Hours of Operation: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
After 5:00 PM, please call 305-535-3300.

For severe or life-threatening symptoms, call 911 immediately.

*Visits to the ORC unit may be billed to you or your insurance. Charges for services will apply according to your coverage plan.
