Spa and Wellness Center
Cancer treatment affects every aspect of life, from your physical health to your emotional and social well-being. Recognizing the multiple ways in which cancer treatment affects our patients, the Braman Comprehensive Cancer Center at Mount Sinai Medical Center offers a dedicated sanctuary for healing and renewal: The Spa and Wellness Center.
This wellness space provides a thoughtfully curated suite of supportive care and self-care services designed to restore confidence, address treatment-related side effects, and help patients maintain their quality of life throughout their cancer journey.
About the Center
The Spa and Wellness Center offers two distinct, yet complementary areas that work in tandem to support our patients and meet their individual needs.
Our patients are invited to experience thoughtfully curated oncology aesthetic services, from personalized wig consultations to refined nail care and a private dressing suite, all created to offer comfort and a touch of luxury during treatment.
Beyond the salon, a tranquil back space hosts our Integrative Therapy Program, where evidence-based therapies such as gentle yoga, meditation, Reiki, and aromatherapy help with relaxation, ease stress, and strengthen emotional resilience.
Together, these spaces provide a foundation for you to address your physical and emotional well-being.
Appearance Services
During cancer treatment, taking time for yourself can make a meaningful difference in how you feel day to day. That’s why we created this program at Braman Comprehensive Cancer Center, to offer supportive, personalized care centered around your comfort and well-being.
Our oncology aesthetic services are delivered by a compassionate and experienced team dedicated to helping you feel cared for and at ease. Each appointment is thoughtfully tailored to your individual needs, providing gentle guidance and attention in a welcoming, supportive environment.
Our appearance services include:
- Wig consultations, wig fittings, and wig sales: Our specialists help each patient select a style that matches their natural hair or personal preferences in the moment, offer guidance on wig care and maintenance, and provide support for treatment-related hair loss.
- Nail care and beauty treatments: Our gentle, professional nail technicians help maintain healthy, styled nails, which can become more fragile, sensitive, and prone to changes during treatment.
- Hair styling and salon services: Our team offers personalized hair or wig styling to help you feel more like yourself as you step back into daily life.
Integrative Wellness Therapies
There is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to cancer treatment. Integrative therapies can play a supportive role alongside medical care, helping patients cope with the physical and emotional challenges of treatment. Clinical studies and guidelines from organizations such as the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and the Society for Integrative Oncology support the use of select integrative therapies for symptom management and improving quality of life.
At the Braman Spa and Wellness Center, we offer a comprehensive menu of evidence-informed therapies designed to seamlessly integrate with your oncology care.
Our services include:
- Mindful movement: Gentle, guided sessions that help release tension, improve circulation, and restore energy, supporting physical function and emotional balance.
- Virtual chair yoga: Accessible while seated, these sessions combine mindful stretching, breath awareness, and relaxation. This exercise can help reduce fatigue and stiffness while cultivating flexibility and stillness.
- Meditation and breath awareness: Guided meditation and intentional breathing can help establish a sense of peace, and may help you manage anxiety, improve your sleep, and better cope with your diagnosis and treatments.
- Aromatherapy and essential oils: Carefully selected plant-derived oils, such as lavender, peppermint, and ginger, can be powerful remedies for managing treatment-related symptoms, including anxiety, fatigue, and nausea.
- Reiki: This gentle, non-invasive form of therapy promotes deep relaxation and emotional balance. Administered through light touch or hands placed just above the body, Reiki helps patients release tension, feel more at ease, and find relief from discomfort.
