    Dr. Ragisha Gopalakrishnan is a board-certified medical hematologist and oncologist at Mount Sinai Medical Center.

    Dr. Gopalakrishnan earned her medical degree in research with honors distinction from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute – Albany Medical College in Albany, NY, where she was awarded the May Halen Prize for excellence in oncology. She completed her internal medicine residency at the University of Texas Southwestern (UTSW). Following her residency, Dr. Gopalakrishnan completed her hematology/oncology fellowship at Vanderbilt Ingram Cancer Center in Nashville, TN. During her fellowship, she received the Tennessee Oncology Practitioners Society Outstanding Fellow Award multiple times in a row, along with numerous ASCO travel grants, including the Conquer Cancer Foundation Award.

    Before joining Mount Sinai Medical Center, Dr. Gopalakrishnan built a successful practice in Colorado and Seattle, Washington. She has held academic appointments at the University of Colorado and the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. During her time at both institutions, she taught hematology/oncology fellows, residents, and medical students. Dr. Gopalakrishnan previously served on several advisory boards, including the Seattle Chapter for Susan G. Komen. Additionally, she has co-authored numerous book chapters, peer-reviewed journal articles, and presentations through the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO).

    Dr. Gopalakrishnan is a practicing hematologist and oncologist through the Mount Sinai/Columbia-affiliated NCORP program. She currently serves as a medical advisor on the executive leadership board for the South Florida Susan G. Komen Leadership Council. She is also a volunteer member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), where she serves as an Early Career Investigator, Early Trainee Liaison, and Breast Guidelines Committee member. Additionally, Dr. Gopalakrishnan is a member of the Alliance and NRG Committee, the Women’s Health Prevention Committee, the Breast Committee, and the Precision Oncology Alliance Council for women’s cancers and health disparities.

    Dr. Gopalakrishnan’s clinical and research interests include oncology drug development/clinical trials, the breast microbiome, breast cancer genomics, health disparities, women in medicine, and rare breast cancers such as male breast cancer, pregnancy-associated breast cancer, pre-menopausal breast cancer, and disparities associated with head and neck cancer.

    Dr. Gopalakrishnan is fluent in English, Hindi, and Malayalam.
