    Dr. Olcay Aksoy is Chief of Cardiology at Mount Sinai Medical Center. He is a board-certified interventional cardiologist specializing in structural heart disease and transcatheter valve procedures. He earned his medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine in Durham, North Carolina. He completed his internal medicine training at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. He also completed fellowships in cardiovascular medicine and advanced interventional cardiovascular medicine at Cleveland Clinic.

    Dr. Aksoy’s clinical expertise includes transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), transcatheter mitral and tricuspid valve interventions, coronary interventions, and the management of patients with complex structural heart disease. Prior to joining Mount Sinai, he held several positions at the UCLA Cardiovascular Center, including Director of the Structural Heart Program, Director of Aortic Valve Interventions, and Associate Director of Clinical Research in Cardiology. Committed to research and innovation in his field, Dr. Aksoy has served as principal investigator or co-principal investigator for numerous cardiac clinical trials evaluating novel therapies. He was even awarded a provisional patent in 2025 for a heart valve he designed.

    In addition to his clinical and research leadership, Dr. Aksoy is deeply committed to education, mentoring cardiology fellows, interventional cardiologists, and future physician leaders. He has co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and scientific presentations focused on topics such as TAVR, myocardial infarction, aortic stenosis, cardiomyopathy, cardiac arrest, and more. He also serves on the editorial boards of leading cardiovascular journals, including Cardiovascular Diagnosis and Therapy, International Journal of the Cardiovascular Academy, and JACC: Clinical Electrophysiology.
