Alan M. Nieder, M.D. is the Roni Jacobson Endowed Chairman of Surgery and the Shelia & Charles D. Saunders, M.D. Co-Chief of Urology at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach. He helped found the Urology residency at MSMC and was Program Director from 2011 to 2025.  He is also the Chairman of the Department of Urology at the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine at Florida International University.

Dr. Nieder received his Medical degree from New York University School of Medicine and completed his residency there as well. He subsequently completed a fellowship in Urologic Oncology at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital.

His interests include all aspects of urologic oncology. Dr. Nieder was recognized for his expertise in bladder cancer, laparoscopic surgery, prostate cancer, urologic cancer and prostate benign disease by Newsweek and listed as one of America’s Top Cancer Doctors. He has authored numerous publications on bladder and prostate cancer. His research interests are in bladder cancer and specifically in improving outcomes of patients with both non-muscle invasive and invasive bladder cancer. Dr. Nieder is an expert in bladder reconstruction, including neobladders.

He has authored and co-authored more than 100 articles, book chapters and abstracts in the field of urology and urologic oncology. His research has been published in Journal of Urology, Urology, European Urology, Urologic Oncology, among others. He is also an active reviewer and editor of many national and international urologic journals.

He is also an active member of many urologic societies, including:

• The Society of Urologic Oncology
• The American Urologic Association
• The Southeastern section of the American Urologic Association
• The Florida Urologic Association
• The Society of Academic Urology

Dr. Nieder is active in many hospital committees, including: the Graduate Medical Education Committee, the Surgical Quality Assurance Committee and the Credentialing Committee.

Dr. Nieder sees patients at Mount Sinai’s main campus in Miami Beach, Aventura and multiple locations in Monroe county. He is fluent in English and conversational in Spanish.
