Dr. Xavier Baldwin is a complex general surgical oncologist specializing in the surgical management of gastrointestinal and hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) malignancies. He earned his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine at Birmingham, followed by completion of his general surgery residency at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While there, he also participated in an NIH-funded post-doctoral research fellowship in tumor immunology through the Duke-UNC Immunotherapy T32 program. He subsequently completed his fellowship training in complex general surgical oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York.

Dr. Baldwin is committed to academic surgery, surgical innovation, and delivering evidence-based, multidisciplinary oncologic care aimed at improving survival and quality of life for patients with complex cancers. His clinical interests include complex liver and pancreatic surgery, gastrointestinal oncology, immunotherapy applications in solid tumors, and advancing outcomes in patients with advanced-stage malignancies.

Dr. Baldwin is actively involved in academic surgery and has presented nationally at major surgical oncology and hepatobiliary conferences. He has an extensive and highly distinguished research portfolio in surgical oncology and tumor immunology, with numerous peer-reviewed publications, national presentations, and contributions to high-impact journals including work on immunotherapy, metastatic cancer management, pancreatic surgery, and liver-directed therapies. His research has been supported by multiple NIH and American College of Surgeons grants.
