Jonathan Zadeh

Jonathan Richard Zadeh, MD
Director of Bariatric Surgery

Dr. Jonathan R. Zadeh is a board-certified general surgeon with specialist expertise in bariatric and foregut surgery. He completed his pre-medical studies with dual degrees at the University of Miami where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He earned his medical degree from Florida Atlantic University where he graduated with honors in surgery. He carried out his residency in general surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach where he received several honors including surgical resident of the year and research resident of the year. He went on to complete a fellowship in bariatric and foregut surgery at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine / University Hospitals. He then returned to Florida and currently provides top tier care for patients at Mount Sinai Medical Center where he serves as the Director of Bariatric Surgery.

Dr. Zadeh has authored numerous publications on topics related to his specialties including revisional bariatric surgery, hernia repair, and quality improvement in surgery. He has had presentations and posters at national and regional conferences including those for the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons. He remains committed to advancing the state of the art in his fields of expertise.

Dr. Kfir Ben-David serves as the Roni Jacobson Endowed Chair of Surgery and the Program Director of the General Surgery Residency Program at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, where he leads comprehensive clinical, educational, and operational initiatives.

As a practicing surgeon, Dr. Ben-David specializes in complex minimally invasive gastrointestinal and oncologic surgery. He performs advanced robotic and laparoscopic procedures for esophageal, gastric, and pancreatic cancers, as well as for gastroesophageal reflux disease, achalasia, and complex hiatal hernias. Dr. Ben-David is recognized as the only surgeon in South Florida performing both robotic pancreaticoduodenectomies (Whipple procedures) and robotic esophagectomies, two of the most technically demanding operations in gastrointestinal surgery. His expertise and outcomes in these areas have positioned him among a select group of surgeons nationally with such advanced robotic proficiency. He also started Mount Sinai’s Bariatric Surgery Program, emphasizing precision, innovation, and patient-centered care.
