President’s Message
Q2 2026

To our Philanthropic Family,

It is our honor to announce that on May 4th Mount Sinai Medical Center officially opened the doors of the Irma and Norman Braman Comprehensive Cancer Center to the South Florida community.

Decades in the making, our vision to deliver true clinical excellence in cancer care, while expanding access to unparalleled expertise, enhanced research and clinical trials, and robust support became a reality.

We broke ground on this project two years ago, and since then, our construction, IT, clinical, and administrative teams have worked tirelessly to ensure we completed the new center on time and on budget.

To prepare for the opening, our Mount Sinai family utilized “Day in the Life” exercises, learning the layout and intricacies of the new cancer center by running simulated imaging, diagnostic, and infusion scenarios. These trainings ensured that our nurses, technicians, and support staff are comfortable in, and knowledgeable about, their new environment.

The opening of the Braman Comprehensive Cancer Center is a critical component of Mount Sinai’s commitment to South Florida.

Through this monumental project, we expanded from our previous 60,000-square-foot cancer center to a 216,000-square-foot, five-story facility. This more than tripled our clinical capacity and significantly increased our patients’ access to prevention, detection, treatment and most importantly, survivorship.

Alongside expanding our physical space, we continue to focus on recruiting the best and brightest medical minds from across the country. We’re proud to have 12 new physicians starting with us at the new cancer center, with an additional 15 slated to be hired this upcoming year.

These additions to our team, coupled with our ongoing investments in adopting advanced technologies, and enhancing our infrastructure, will continue to allow us to deliver our nationally recognized brand of care for generations to come.

This April, we were honored to celebrate this historic moment with a Ribbon Cutting ceremony.

We shared an afternoon of reflection and commemoration with businessman and philanthropist Norman Braman, his wife Irma, Senator Rick Scott, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Each of these honored guests, alongside Dr. Steven Hochwald, Director of the Comprehensive Cancer Center, and Mount Sinai leadership, spoke on what this new building means for patient-centric cancer care in South Florida.

We are grateful to have had this time to reflect on this accomplishment with our philanthropic family, city and county leadership, and our Mount Sinai family.

Through the Irma and Norman Braman Comprehensive Cancer Center, Mount Sinai Medical Center is providing an elevated, holistic treatment experience for our community.
