Mount Sinai Medical Center was named one of America’s Best Maternity Hospitals 2026 by Newsweek and Statista, a recognition that reflects our medical center’s longstanding dedication to providing exceptional care for mothers and newborns across South Florida. Each year, Mount Sinai delivers approximately 2,200 babies at our Miami Beach campus.
The annual ranking evaluates hospitals nationwide based on clinical quality metrics, patient experience data, and peer recommendations from maternity care professionals, including neonatal and perinatal physicians, nurses, and midwives.
“Welcoming a new life into the world is one of the most profound responsibilities in health care, and this recognition reflects the standard of maternity care our teams deliver every day,” said Gino R. Santorio, President and Chief Executive Officer. “Every year, thousands of families trust us with one of the most important moments of their lives. That responsibility drives our continued investment in the people, programs, and facilities that make this level of care possible.”
At a time when hospitals across South Florida and the nation are closing labor and delivery units, we’re dedicated to moving in the opposite direction. Our medical center is preparing to begin construction on a fully renovated labor and delivery floor on our Miami Beach campus, designed to offer a modern, family-centered environment with enhanced comfort, privacy, and clinical capabilities. The project reflects Mount Sinai’s belief that maternity care is not only essential to the community, but worthy of continued investment.
Our medical center has also invested in technology to strengthen patient safety, including an AI-powered surveillance system that tracks labor progression in real time and digital biometric footprint identification for newborns, providing families with an additional layer of security from the moment of birth.
The Newsweek recognition adds to a growing list of national distinctions for Mount Sinai in 2026. Our medical center was recently named one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals by Healthgrades for the second consecutive year, placing it among the top 2 percent of hospitals nationwide, and was previously recognized among Newsweek’s World’s Best Smart Hospitals. The award further reinforces a broader period of institutional growth that includes the recent opening of the Braman Comprehensive Cancer Center earlier this month and continued expansion across Miami-Dade and Monroe counties.
