Generations of Giving: The Hildebrandt Family

Philanthropy has been a cornerstone of the Hildebrandt family for generations. Mark and Jo Ann Hildebrandt, Miami Beach natives, have been involved with Mount Sinai Medical Center’s Foundation for 32 years, including Mark’s tenure as Chairman of the Board of Trustees from 2019-2022 and President of the Foundation from 2007-2011. Mark and Jo Ann are second-generation supporters of Mount Sinai, alongside his parents Sanford and Lois Hildebrandt, who began their philanthropic relationship with Mount Sinai in 1999. “We do it because we know how important it is to give back,” said Jo Ann. “It’s always been instilled in our family to leave this legacy of giving, especially to places like Mount Sinai that our community relies on.”

After years of dedication to and support of Mount Sinai’s mission, the Hildebrandts generously named the Hildebrandt Emergency Center, which opened in 2019. The expansive addition includes 56 modern emergency treatment rooms, making critical, high-quality care more accessible and comfortable for the visitors and residents of Miami Beach. “I’ve always said that Mount Sinai is a world-class medical center with world-class doctors, and now we have a world-class facility,” Mark said of the project.

As the needs of South Floridians continue to evolve, the Hildebrandt family remains dedicated to helping Mount Sinai meet the community’s needs — and Mark and Jo Ann have instilled that same commitment to philanthropy in their children. “Two of the happiest days of our lives were the days our children were born at Mount Sinai,” Mark said. “We’ve been giving for more than 30 years, and the history of our giving is a testament to how much we believe in the medical center’s mission.”

Today, Jessica Hildebrandt, one of Mark and Jo Ann’s two daughters, serves as a member of the Mount Sinai Medical Center Foundation Executive Committee and as Chair of the Labor & Delivery Renovation campaign. Jessica, her sister Jamie, and both of their husbands, Landon and Jonathan respectively, are all dedicated to strengthening Mount Sinai’s high-quality care.

“Our family has been committed to the medical center’s mission for decades now,” Jamie said. “Both Jessica and I are excited to raise our children in that same tradition of giving.”

Jessica is focused on helping Mount Sinai enhance the level of care new and expanding families receive during one of the most impactful moments of their lives. Her leadership is helping to drive the reimagining of the Labor & Delivery unit, including a more tranquil environment, state-of-the-art medical equipment, modernized patient rooms, and upgraded security measures.

“My parents gave my sister and me the gift of appreciation and dedication to philanthropy,” said Jessica. “Now, I’m very fortunate to play a role in Mount Sinai’s work to provide an elevated level of care for our community’s mothers and new babies.”

Across generations, the Hildebrandt family has cultivated a shared commitment to giving, passing that spirit through four generations of family. Their enduring legacy is intertwined with Mount Sinai Medical Center has positively impacted thousands of lives — and will continue to do so for generations to come.
