Developing safer, more effective treatments for our patients is central to Mount Sinai’s commitment to high-quality and compassionate healthcare. By participating in clinical trials, our medical center is able to provide our community with access to the most advanced care available.

Clinical trials are carefully regulated and designed to evaluate whether new therapies or treatment approaches are safe, effective, and potentially superior to existing options. For example, many of the most significant advances in cancer treatment have come through clinical trials; now, patients who take part in clinical trials may gain access to the latest innovations for their diagnosis.

Despite the potential success of a trial, we remind our patients that participants do not always receive experimental treatment; some may receive the current standard of care so researchers can compare outcomes and determine which approach is more effective.
