About Dr. Veronica Rodriguez McCloskey
Dr. McCloskey is a full time cardiologist and assistant professor of medicine at Columbia University Division of Cardiology at Mount Sinai Medical Center. Prior to arriving at Mount Sinai, she was Assistant Professor of Medicine at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, IL.
Dr. McCloskey is a general cardiologist but also specializes in the area of echocardiography, including stress echocardiography and transesophageal echocardiography. Her special interests include 3D echo and valvular heart disease. Furthermore, she also has interest in the relationship of left atrial volumes to clinical outcomes.
Dr. McCloskey received her B.A. in Natural Sciences from The Johns Hopkins University. She then received her M.D. from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine. She completed her internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Virginia Health Sciences Center. Dr. McCloskey served as a cardiology fellow at the University of Maryland Medical System where she also served as an assistant instructor in Medicine. Finally, she obtained advanced echocardiography training at Northwestern University. She is board certified in cardiovascuar disease, echocardiography and nuclear cardiology.
Dr. McCloskey is a reviewer for the Journal of Echocardiography. Prior to joining Mount Sinai, she did extensive volunteer work as the local Hispanic media spokesperson for the American Heart Association and is a member of the National Spokesperson Panel for the AHA. She is also fluent in Spanish.
