Dr. Nicholas Smith is a urologist and an Assistant Professor at the Columbia University Division of Urology at Mount Sinai Medical Center. He is fellowship trained in endourology and minimally invasive surgical techniques.

Dr. Smith earned his bachelor’s degree at Harvard and his medical degree at Vanderbilt University. This was followed by a residency in urologic surgery at the University of California-Los Angeles. He then returned to his hometown of Miami and completed an endourology fellowship at the University of Miami, where he gained robust experience in treating benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and enlarged prostates, minimally invasive kidney stone surgery, and robotic surgery.

Dr. Smith has a clinical interest in treating enlarged prostates and BPH with cutting-edge laser technology (HoLEP) and various other BPH treatment techniques, as well as complex kidney stones, prostate cancer, and several kidney and ureteral conditions. He is an active member of the American Urological Association and has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and presentations. He has research interests in quality improvement, improving medical record systems, and BPH treatments.

Dr. Smith speaks both English and Spanish.
