Dr. Leonardo D. Borregales is a urologic oncologist and an Assistant Professor at Columbia University’s Division of Urology at Mount Sinai Medical Center.

Dr. Borregales earned his medical degree from Universidad Central de Venezuela, Luis Razetti School of Medicine in Caracas, Venezuela. He completed his postdoctoral fellowship training at UT – MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. Following his postdoctoral fellowship training, he completed his residency training at UTHealth, McGovern Medical School, where he was honored for his academic research productivity on behalf of the Department of Urology. Following his residency, Dr. Borregales completed his fellowship training in Urologic Oncology at Weill Cornell Medicine/New York Presbyterian.

    Dr. Leonardo D. Borregales is a urologic oncologist and an Assistant Professor at Columbia University’s Division of Urology at Mount Sinai Medical Center.

    Dr. Borregales earned his medical degree from Universidad Central de Venezuela, Luis Razetti School of Medicine in Caracas, Venezuela. He completed his postdoctoral fellowship training at UT – MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. Following his postdoctoral fellowship training, he completed his residency training at UTHealth, McGovern Medical School, where he was honored for his academic research productivity on behalf of the Department of Urology. Following his residency, Dr. Borregales completed his fellowship training in Urologic Oncology at Weill Cornell Medicine/New York Presbyterian.

    Dr. Borregales aims to provide the most comprehensive and innovative care for patients with prostate, bladder, kidney, ureteral, and testicular cancer. His goal is to deliver personalized patient care by combining his passion for surgery, research, and innovation. He has authored numerous publications in leading peer-reviewed journals and presented in national and international meetings on topics that include improving the management of localized and advanced kidney cancer, access to chemotherapy to treat bladder cancer, prostate cancer biopsy, active surveillance, and focal therapy.

    Dr. Borregales is an associate member of the European Association of Urology – YAU Kidney Cancer Research working group, a member of the American Urological Association, National Hispanic Medical Association, Sexual Medicine Society of North America, National Postdoctoral Association, American Society of Clinical Oncology, and Sociedad Venezolana de Urologia.

    Dr. Borregales is fluent in English and Spanish.
