Dr. Joseph Dergan is a board-certified vascular surgeon at Mount Sinai Medical Center. He is a Miami native with family roots from Cuba and Peru. After graduating as Summa Cum Laude from Florida International University with degrees in Biology and Chemistry, he earned his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine. He completed a general surgery internship at UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School, followed by a general surgery residency at The Brooklyn Hospital Center. He then completed a vascular surgery fellowship at UT Health San Antonio.

Dr. Dergan is board certified in vascular surgery and holds the RPVI credential. Additional certifications include ACLS, BLS, ATLS, and TAMBE. He is a member of the American Venous Forum. His interests include dialysis access, limb salvage, and cerebrovascular arterial occlusive disease.

He has published peer-reviewed research in vascular reconstruction and surgical oncology.

He is an avid supporter of Miami sports teams, including the Dolphins and Heat, and regularly attends their games.  He enjoys traveling and experiencing different cultures.

Dr. Dergan’s honors include Outstanding Teaching Resident of the Year (2014, 2015), Doctor of Medicine with Highest Honors, and Dean’s List every semester at Ross University School of Medicine.
