Dr. Joseph Barbera is an orthopedic surgeon and an Assistant Professor at the Columbia University Division of Orthopedic Surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center.

Dr. Barbera earned his medical degree from the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine in Miami, FL, and was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency training at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, NY. After residency, he completed his adult total joint reconstruction fellowship at the Anderson Orthopedic Clinic in Alexandria, VA, where he trained with nationally and internationally recognized experts in anterior hip replacement, partial knee replacement, and outpatient joint replacement.

Specializing in hip and knee replacement, Dr. Barbera is committed to restoring mobility and enhancing the quality of life for patients with joint-related conditions. He utilizes the latest surgical techniques and technologies to personalize patient care and expedite recovery, allowing a safe and quick return to daily activities. Additionally, Dr. Barbera has extensive training in complex and revision joint replacements.

Dr. Barbera has contributed to orthopedic and total joint replacement-related research, along with national presentations. He has numerous peer-reviewed publications, such as articles in prominent scientific orthopedic journals, surgical technique videos, and book chapters in orthopedic textbooks. Dr. Barbera is an active member of several professional orthopedic organizations, including the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.
