Dr. Cordero earned his medical degree from Universidad del Azuay in Cuenca, Ecuador. He completed his internal medicine residency training at Jacobi Medical Center / Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, NY, where he also served as Chief Resident. Dr. Cordero then completed his fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at Montefiore Medical Center, the University Hospital for Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, NY, where he was awarded Teaching Fellow of the Year for his involvement in residency and fellowship education, and later designated Chief Fellow.

    Dr. Cordero earned his medical degree from Universidad del Azuay in Cuenca, Ecuador.     Dr. Cordero has contributed to research in diagnostic bronchoscopy for peripheral lung nodules using endobronchial ultrasound, quality of life in patients with lung cancer, and lung infections with non-tuberculous mycobacterial infections.

    Prior to joining Mount Sinai Medical Center, Dr. Cordero last held the position of Assistant Professor of Medicine for the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine at NYU Grossman School of Medicine at Bellevue Hospital in New York.

    Dr. Hernando J. Cordero is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Diseases, and Critical Care Medicine.

    Dr. Cordero is fluent in both English and Spanish.
