About Dr. Christos G. Mihos
Dr. Christos G. Mihos is a non-invasive cardiologist with board certification in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease, and level III board-certification in adult comprehensive echocardiography.
A native of Boston, Massachusetts, Dr. Mihos earned his medical degree at Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2009. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine (2012) and fellowship in cardiovascular disease (2015) at Mount Sinai Medical Center, where he received the Resident of the Year and Fellow of the Year awards. Subsequently, he completed a two-year fellowship in advanced echocardiography at Massachusetts General Hospital (2017), where he also served as a clinical research fellow at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Mihos is an active member of the American Society of Echocardiography, the Heart Valve Society of America, the American College of Cardiology, the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association, the American College of Osteopathic Internists, and the American Osteopathic Association. He serves as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine for the Columbia University Division of Cardiology at Mount Sinai Medical Center, and as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Cardiology at Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Dr. Mihos has a keen interest in the field of valvular heart disease, and in particular mitral valve disorders. He has extensively studied and presented at national and international conferences on the pathophysiology, diagnosis, management, and outcomes of secondary mitral regurgitation in patients with ischemic and non-ischemic cardiomyopathy. Additional areas of interest include aortic and tricuspid valve disease, acquired and inherited cardiomyopathy, and the application of 2D, 3D, and strain echocardiography to the diagnosis and management of valvular heart disease. Dr. Mihos is a devoted clinical researcher, and has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and abstracts. Additionally, he is an editorial board member and has served as guest editor for the Journal of Thoracic Disease, and has received research grant support from the American Medical Association Foundation. He is a research mentor to medical students, residents, and fellows, and helps to maintain the academic excellence of Mount Sinai Medical Center.
Dr. Mihos is fluent in both English and Greek, and proficient in Spanish.
