President’s Message
Q3 2026
To our residents, fellows, and graduates,
As we enter the fall season, we hope you had the opportunity to enjoy meaningful time with loved ones this summer.
As always, we extend our sincere gratitude for your continued engagement and unwavering commitment to our mission through your education at Mount Sinai. We’re excited to share several important updates on our medical center’s continued growth and expansion.
One of our most significant milestones is the opening of our new Westchester emergency center in early October. This location will serve as our largest freestanding emergency center to date, ready to treat patients with Mount Sinai’s nationally recognized brand of high-quality care.
This state-of-the-art center will feature 27 treatment bays along with advanced diagnostic and imaging capabilities, significantly enhancing access to expert emergency care for the surrounding communities. Integrated with our Jay and Jeanie Schottenstein Center for Behavioral Health, the facility will provide coordinated, whole-person care that addresses both physical and emotional needs.
Looking ahead, our Westchester campus is designed to grow alongside the community it serves.
Over the next three to five years, the site will evolve into a comprehensive healthcare destination, with plans to add a limited number of inpatient and observation beds, as well as a procedural platform for surgeries and other specialized services.
The final phase of this transformative project will be the construction of a separate medical office building on the property, further expanding access to a wide range of outpatient care and physician specialties.
Together, these developments will make it easier than ever for patients and families throughout Westchester and neighboring communities to access the exceptional care Mount Sinai is known for.
Beyond Westchester, we’re also excited about the opportunity to expand our reach through the opening of two additional physician offices in Key West. These important additions will further enhance access to care in a rural community, making it even more convenient for patients to connect with Mount Sinai’s trusted physicians and specialists close to home.
In addition to expanding our physical footprint throughout South Florida, we remain committed to expanding our expert medical staff and leadership. This October, Dr. Olcay Aksoy will be joining Mount Sinai as our new Chief of Cardiology.
Dr. Aksoy is a nationally recognized expert in structural heart disease and advanced catheter-based therapies, including transcatheter aortic valve replacement, transcatheter mitral repair and replacement, tricuspid valve interventions, and the treatment of complex coronary disease. His arrival reflects Mount Sinai’s continued commitment Expanding on our legacy as the number one cardiac program in South Florida, a title we have proudly held consistently, for over a decade.
With more than 20 physicians across multiple specialties joining our medical staff this year alone, we remain focused on expanding access to specialized services while upholding the highest standards of medical excellence.
I hope you enjoy reading more updates in this newsletter, and I thank you for choosing Mount Sinai for your education.
Sincerely,

Gino R. Santorio
President and Chief Executive Officer
