Antonio Cañero is a physician assistant in the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center. He works collaboratively with cardiothoracic surgeons and multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive perioperative and postoperative care for patients undergoing complex thoracic procedures.

He earned his Master of Medical Science from Saint Francis University and brings clinical experience in both cardiothoracic surgery and urology. In his current role, Antonio serves as surgical first assist in a wide range of procedures, including robotic-assisted thoracic and foregut surgeries. He also manages postoperative patients in step-down units, provides outpatient follow-up care, and supports treatment planning and continuity of care. His prior experience includes managing pre- and postoperative urology patients, coordinating medication management, and assisting with surgical cases.
