As South Florida’s oldest statutory teaching hospital, Mont Sinai Medical Center is committed to expanding and enhancing our educational offerings through a variety of initiatives and partnerships.

Below are a few recent program highlights:

  • Electrophysiology Fellowship Underway: Mount Sinai recently applied to the Residency Review Committee for approval to start an Electrophysiology Fellowship. If approved, this program would be led by Raul Weiss, MD, and the existing Electrophysiology physicians. Fellowship expansions provide opportunities for our residents and fellows to continue their advanced training here at Mount Sinai Medical Center. Additionally, these programs increase our community’s access to high-quality care by training highly qualified physicians with specialty expertise.
  • Genitourinary Reconstructive Fellowship Approved: Under the leadership of Billy Cordon, MD, our medical education catalogue will include a one-year fellowship in Genitourinary Reconstructive Surgery. This fellowship will train urologists to be able to perform complex reconstructive surgery, helping patients with congenital and traumatic abnormalities of the genitourinary system that affect both patient function and quality of life. This fellowship program will be supported by Michaela Sljivich, MD, Alan Scott Polackwich, MD, Director of Male Infertility and Erectile Dysfunction, and George Wayne, MD, in helping to provide advanced training for the fellow.
  • Continued Accreditation of Mount Sinai’s Graduate Medical Education Programs: As always, an annual review is completed by the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) of all our accredited programs using data collected by resident and faculty surveys, as well as each program’s annual report. This report includes any changes to curriculum, resolution of any issues raised by residents or, if applicable, leadership changes. As a result of these reviews, we are proud to announce that all of Mount Sinai’s programs received continued accreditation this past year.

Our dedication to innovative clinical trials, graduate medical education, and groundbreaking research solidify our standing as a nationally renowned care provider.
