    Dr. Vanounou has extensive experience in minimally invasive and robotic surgery for complex liver, pancreatic and biliary conditions. A pioneer in robotic hepato-pancreato-biliary surgery, he performed Canada’s first robotic pancreaticoduodenectomy (Whipple procedure) and first robotic liver resection. His approach emphasizes careful evaluation and coordination among the specialists involved in each patient’s care.

    Dr. Vanounou has authored or co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications. His research has addressed colorectal cancer metastases, pancreatic surgery, minimally invasive surgical techniques and healthcare economics. He is a member of the Americas Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association, the Canadian Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association and the Society of Surgical Oncology.
