Dr. Ana Maria Torres Illescas is a board-certified internal medicine physician who graduated summa cum laude with a medical degree from Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador in Quito, Ecuador. She completed her internal medicine residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, Fla., where she is currently on staff as a Hospitalist Medical Director.

Dr. Torres Illescas is committed to improving processes and increasing operational excellence. Her clinical interests focus on hospital medicine, quality improvement, integration of new health care technologies, and artificial intelligence. She has conducted research and presented posters on topics such as global aphasia, aortic insufficiency, high blood pressure, and cardiac arrest.

Dr. Torres Illescas is a fellow and member of the American College of Physicians and the Society of Hospital Medicine. She serves as a clinical educator at Nova Southeastern University and Florida International University. She has also been active in the Medical Management Advisory, Cardiology Quality Improvement, General Medicine Quality Improvement, Readmission Reduction, and Medical Review committees at Mount Sinai Medical Center.

Dr. Torres Illescas is fluent in Spanish.
