Mount Sinai's newly renovated 89-bed behavioral health unit is one of the largest in Miami-Dade County. Its psychiatrists, psychologists, registered nurses, licensed social workers, and occupational and physical therapists offer individualized, hands-on responses to acute behavioral crises. We provide services to patients who require short-term hospitalization and care for their psychiatric disorders, as well as those patients who require longer-term stabilization in a secure environment.
Our behavioral health professionals treat a wide range of psychiatric illnesses, memory disorders, alcohol or drug addiction and behavioral disorders, including major depressive disorders, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and psychosis. Treatment options include group therapy; individual therapy; medication management and education; creative and expressive therapy; activity therapy and electroconvulsive therapy. We also offer our patients coping skills; relaxation techniques; stress and anger management strategies; recreation and discharge planning; and referral to community resources that will provide continued support once they leave Mount Sinai.
In addition to caring for patients within our facility, the behavioral health unit also works closely with Miami-Dade organizations serving needy and homeless populations, as well as community-based outpatient health facilities. These important relationships are part of Mount Sinai's commitment to serving patients who may otherwise have no access to mental health care.
For a behavioural health referral, please call (305) 298-6365. A nurse is available 24-hours a day, 7 days a week.
