Tours of the Maternity Unit are provided every Wednesday at 3 p.m. All expectant mothers and spouses/partners are welcome. Sorry, children are not allowed on tours. Please meet on the 3rd floor of the main hospital. Registration is not required.
Do you have questions and/or concerns about breast-feeding? Is it your desire to nurture and feed your baby naturally? Learn the basics of breast-feeding and why it can be one of life’s most gratifying rewards. This class is taught by a certified lactation consultant and is offered once a month. The session is suggested for women in the last eight weeks of pregnancy. The fee is $35 per couple and advanced registration is required. Childbirth Preparedness Class
This program highlights all of the important issues that new mothers face. It discusses topics regarding pregnancy, labor and delivery, and anesthesia options. The classes should be taken during the last eight weeks of the pregnancy, with one support person in attendance. The program includes a tour of the Young Presidents’ Club Special Delivery Suites. Shalom Baby! Preparing for Childbirth and Beyond
A freshly revised Shalom Baby childbirth preparation class for pregnant women (20+ weeks) and their partners! Sunday class includes a thorough training on childbirth education taught by registered doula, Natalie Grillo, of Mother’s Care Doula Services, Inc. and a Temple Beth Sholom Rabbi leading a conversation about traditional and new Jewish rituals for welcoming your baby. Included in the $95 registration cost is a hard copy of Blessings of a Skinned Knee, a bagel breakfast and afternoon snacks, a follow-up infant/child CPR & First Aid certification class, and featured speakers (lactation consultant, pediatrician, post-partum depression specialist, and more) in the weeks to come following the class. Infant CPR & Safety
This non-certification class covers the basics of resuscitation for infants from birth to one year old. The session, which features hands on practice of CPR techniques using a mannequin, also provides tips on infant safety, the proper use of car seats and baby-proofing your home. Community CPR Training
Mount Sinai Medical Center is proud to offer classes in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to the public. American Heart Association, effective bystander CPR, provided immediately after sudden cardiac arrest, can double or triple a victim’s chance of survival. Be prepared. CPR classes are offered twice a month on Thursdays from 8 a.m. to noon.
