Support Groups |
Support groups are one of the ways we reach out to help people cope with the many difficulties that can arise as patients navigate the path through cancer diagnosis and treatment. By bringing together people affected by similar conditions, support groups can help people feel less alone and also give people an opportunity to share information and discuss their coping strategies. These groups can be very helpful to patients for both emotional support and information exchange.
At Mount Sinai we offer several support groups for those affected by cancer. The following schedule changes frequently, so check back for updates:
Cancer Bereavement - Both widows and widowers benefit from a peer support system to assist in adjusting to their new living situations. Education on bereavement is emphasized with associated group counseling. 305.535.3362 for information.
Coping with Cancer for Caregivers - Helping caregivers cope with the impact of cancer and its treatment by providing support and education on the physical, psychological and emotional impact of the disease. 305.535.3362 for information.
Look Good, Feel Better - Provides education and support to help cancer patients deal with the physical, psychological and emotional impact of treatment. 305.535.3362 for information.
Meditation/Relaxation Group - Provides cancer patients with an opportunity to live in and experience the present moment in a stress-free environment. 305.535.3362 for information.
