The Lila and Harold Menowitz Comprehensive Breast Center |
Mount Sinai Medical Center's Lila and Harold Menowitz Comprehensive Breast Center is one of only two centers and the first in Florida to be accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC). This accreditation is given only to those centers that have passed a rigorous evaluation, are committed to provide the highest quality care in breast disease diagnosis, treatment, support and follow-up care and have demonstrated they can comply with the accreditation program's high standards. The American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer has twice awarded Mount Sinai its Outstanding Achievement Award, recognizing our outstanding leadership in cancer care. No other hospital in Florida bears this distinction.
What distinguishes us from other facilities is our team approach. Once a week, a multidisciplinary team of specialists – radiologists, oncologists, surgical oncologists and radiation oncologists – meets to review each case, fully discuss and explore all options, and share knowledge to create the best treatment plan for each individual patient, including opportunities to enroll patients in clinical trials.
We encourage all women, including those without symptoms, to visit the Center. We offer an array of educational and diagnostic services designed to help women remain healthy, and to help us detect breast cancer in its earliest stages. We offer instruction in breast self-exam and analysis of risk factors as well as the latest screening and detection technologies including mammography, breast ultrasound, breast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), stereotactic biopsy and Mammatome breast biopsy, all designed to maximize the accuracy of our breast imaging capabilities and aid in the early detection and treatment of any abnormalities.
