Mount Sinai's Division of Urology treats a constellation of disorders related to the bladder, kidney and prostate, using the most up-to-date procedures and treatment protocols to produce the best possible results for both men and women. New therapies implemented by the division include the very effective extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL), which uses shock waves to break kidney stones into small pieces that can pass more easily from the body. Innovative clinical approaches also include microwave application and GreenLightTM laser treatment for patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), or enlarged prostate. Through an innovative partnership with the Columbia University Division of Urology, Mount Sinai now offers robotic assisted surgery and is conducting research to improve patient outcomes. It is our commitment to employ the latest therapies to treat male and female incontinence; cancers of the bladder, kidney and prostate; and male impotence. Seymour Nash, M.D. Chief, Div. of Urology
