Community Clinical Oncology Program (CCOP)
Mount Sinai’s active participation in cancer research means that our patients often have access to promising treatments years before they are commonly available. The wide array of trials we offer is a function of our participation since 1987 in the Community Clinical Oncology Program (CCOP), a prestigious grant-funded program sponsored by the National Cancer Institute.
We are the only South Florida medical center to administer an adult CCOP, and one of only 61 major research centers nationwide to participate. CCOP is a competitive grant, meaning we compete for it with hospitals throughout the country and must demonstrate continued excellence to remain a participant. In 2007, Mount Sinai won a renewed grant to continue its vital cancer research.
