MOUNT
SINAI PHYSICIAN
FEATURED ON THE TODAY
SHOW
A Mount Sinai Medical Center physician teamed up with NBC’s Today Show to help Americans in their
never-ending quest for a good night’s rest. On Tuesday, August 8, 2006, Alejandro
Chediak, M.D., medical director of Mount Sinai’s Sleep Disorders Center, appeared in a live, on-set
interview with Today host Matt Lauer
to discuss the benefits and risks of taking sleeping pills. It was the doctor’s second appearance on
the program this year. In February,
Dr. Chediak, who is president-elect of the
American
Academy
of Sleep Medicine, appeared on the
program as part of a week-long series on sleep disorders.
Established in 1979, the Sleep Disorders Center at Mount Sinai Medical
Center was the first in the state of
Florida to be
accredited by the American Sleep Disorders Association. The center is staffed with board
certified sleep medicine physicians and technologists, and is a recognized
leader in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep-related illnesses.
The Mount Sinai Sleep
Disorders Center utilizes state-of-the-art
computerized equipment to evaluate a wide range of abnormalities, including
sleep apnea, insomnia and narcolepsy.
Once a diagnosis is made, the center provides a comprehensive array of
high-quality services and effective treatment programs.
