The
Podiatric residency program is sponsored entirely by Mount Sinai Medical Center.
The emphasis of this program is to give exposure and training in the full scope
of podiatric medicine and surgery. This includes educational experiences in
general podiatry, pediatrics, geriatrics, diabetes and wound management,
biomechanics and surgery.
The
program underwent an on-site evaluation by the Council of Podiatric Medical
Education in March 2004 and received full-approval status as a 24-month
Podiatric Medicine and Surgery (PM&S-24) program until 2010. The
Program is currently approved for 4 residents, 2 PGY-1 and 2 PGY-2 positions.
Resident completion of a Podiatric Medicine & Surgery-24 will lead to the
foot surgery certification by ABPS and primary care certification pathway of the
ABPOPPM. The program is in the process of self-evaluation to determine the
possibility of conversion to the PM&S-36 training model.
