There are a total of 12 Cardiology key faculty members. The faculty includes the Director of the Training Program, Gervasio A. Lamas, M.D., chief of the Columbia University Division of Cardiology at Mount Sinai Medical Center; Cesar Conde, M.D., and 12 others: Frank Dieguez, MD; Esteban Escolar, MD; Israel Galtes, MD; Agnes Garami, MD; Todd Heimowitz, MD; Hakop Hrachian, MD; Ralph Nader, MD; Luis Rechani, MD; Orlando Santana, MD (Director of the Non-Invasive Lab); Alfonso Tolentino, MD; Pablo Vivas, MD; and Joseph Zebede, MD.
There are other faculty that have important roles as clinical teachers in the training program: Joshua Furman, MD; Morton Robinson, MD (Chief of Pathology); Philip Samet, MD; and William Smoak, MD. Finally, there are also faculty that serve a mentoring role in the research program: Jose Adams, MD, and Luigi Cubbedu, MD.
A good number of our fellows continue with an additional year of interventional cardiology at Mount Sinai Medical Center; others have left our institution to pursue a career in electrophysiology and other specialties. Many graduates have remained working at Mount Sinai Medical Center or gone into private practice in Florida and other states within the U.S.
