WIEN CENTER FOR ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE & MEMORY DISORDERS

Founded in 1986 The Wien Center for Alzheimer’s Diesease and Memory Disorders, a joint program between Mount Sinai Medical Center and the University of Miami Department of Psychiatry, seeks an end to Alzheimer’s disease and similar disorders through research, diagnosis, education and treatment.  Recently, the center earned a prestigious grant from the National Institutes of Health to conduct cutting edge research on this crippling disease. This grant allows Mount Sinai, along with select memory disorder clinics around the state, to establish Florida’s first ever Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC), joining 31 other ADRC’s nationwide.

While The Wien Center for Alzheimer’s Disease and Memory Disorders has been at the forefront of dramatic advances in Alzheimer’s research and treatment for the last 10 years, there’s still much to learn and investigate. Research is the key to unlocking the debilitating disease. The Wien Center conducts massive, multidiscipline initiatives utilizing clinical trials, putting Mount Sinai on the frontlines against the age-related disease. The goals are to improve memory and mental responsiveness of Alzheimer’s patients, delay the onset of the disease and ultimately find a cure.

Excellence Recognized
The Wien Center's leadership in the field of memory disorders is one of the main reasons Mount Sinai Medical Center has been named One of America's Best Hospitals for geriatrics in 2007, 2008, and again in 2009.  For more information on this award, click here.

The Wien Center’s medical specialists have treated more than 5,000 memory disorder patients with a multi-faceted approach, utilizing expertise in diagnostic imaging, psychiatry, neurology, genetics and geriatrics.

Mount Sinai also is actively engaged in promoting healthy aging and addressing other forms of dementia. The Wien Center works hand-in-hand with various community resources, connecting families to support systems and education to significantly reduce or solve problems associated with care giving for those with dementia. Local seniors over 50 are invited to visit the Center for a free memory screening.
