The Maternal-Child Division of Mount Sinai Medical Center is pleased to offer the following classes:
Breast-Feeding Class
Do you have some questions and concerns about breast-feeding? Is it your desire to nurture and feed your baby naturally? Learn the basics of breast-feeding and why it can be one of life's most gratifying rewards. This class is taught by a certified lactation consultant and is offered once a month. The session is suggested for women in the last eight weeks of pregnancy. The fee is $35.00 per couple and advanced registration is required.
Childbirth Preparedness Class
This program highlights all of the important issues that new mothers face. It discusses topics regarding pregnancy, labor and delivery, and anesthesia options. The classes should be taken during the last eight weeks of the pregnancy, with one support person in attendance. The program includes a tour of the Young Presidents' Club Special Delivery Suites. The fee is $80 per couple and advanced registration is required.
Shalom Baby! Preparing for Childbirth and Beyond
This class is a 6 week series on preparing physically, emotionally and spiritually for the birth of your child. The first half of each class is taught by a nurse-midwife, and will include information regarding pregnancy, labor & delivery, anesthesia options, infant CPR and first aid. The second half of each class is taught by a variety of Jewish professionals, including a Rabbi, Mohel, Early Childhood Educator, Family Counselor and Pediatrician. The fee for the class is $100. Infant CPR & Safety
This non-certification class covers the basics of resuscitation for infants from birth to one year old. The session, which features hands on practice of CPR techniques using a mannequin, also provides tips on infant safety, the proper use of car seats and baby-proofing your home. The fee is $35 per couple and advanced registration is required.
